“My clothes have a story. They have an identity. They have a character and a purpose. That is why they become classics. Because they keep on telling a story. They are still telling it” –Vivienne Westwood
To most fashion-forward individuals,
renting clothes is a rather unorthodox idea.
Some might even dismiss it as downright
ludicrous while the rest would even regard it as the height of blasphemy. After
all, clothes are personal effects and they reflect our individual characters
and personalities insomuch that renting them can feel like we are adapting to a
new persona. Sure, we get it. Renting clothes does not hold much appeal and may
not even be a popular option to most seeing as most individuals would rather
buy the clothes they like outright rather than scour rental shops for it. This
is especially true for individuals with peculiar taste in apparel such as those
provided by a wholesaleBob Marley retailer and the like. However, despite your inner protests
and qualms, there are several benefits to renting clothes. It is just
unfortunate that we have associated renting clothes with ill-fitting gowns we
wore to prom and dusty tuxedos we wore on graduation today.
In fact, the only time we have ever rented
clothes might be those rare times we attended formal events such as balls,
weddings and the like. And yet, even then renting clothes seemed like a last
resort. In this regard, it would be understandable why renting clothes does not
exactly ring positive connotations. However, you also need to be realistic with
your clothes. Ask yourself: How many times have you bought something that you
have worn only once? More importantly, how many times have you borrowed an
article of clothing from someone else? If you have answered more than once in
the second question, renting clothes is not any different. You are already used
to sharing, so what is the harm in renting clothes? Not only is this option
more cost-effective, but it is an avenue to explore styles different from yours
as well. If you are still unconvinced, here are some of the reasons why renting
clothes is actually a feasible idea:
Get time back
How often do you find
yourself allocating a good portion of your time in just finding the perfect
tee? More importantly, how often do you come out of that endeavour
empty-handed? Granted that everything is available online now and you can
probably find what you want in most shopping websites, a significant portion of
your time is still dedicated to choosing the one that looks great to you.
Couple that with limitless options online and you will effectively have wasted
about a couple of your hours in a day. Everyone needs more time to enjoy and relax.
You definitely should not spend that time looking for the perfect top nor
should you spend it endlessly scrolling through clothing shopping websites.
You need variety. Not more
clothes
Trust us when we say this:
More clothes lead to more clutter. Sure, you need variety and a perhaps a
little change to your style but that does not warrant a clothing shopping
spree. Rent those styles that keep up with all aspects of your life. You can
choose to wear them again and again or maybe not. It is up to you.
You can wear designer brands
Buying your own designer
label clothes is going to cost you exorbitantly. In this regard, it would be understandable
if you never got to wear anything designer in your life. However, if you rented
your clothes, you would find that you can wear designer labelled clothes for at
least a day, a week or so for a fraction of its buying price. Who would not
want that? Similarly, you will have a wider access to designer brands—some you
might not have heard of before. You can be a trendsetter and strut your stuff
even with rented label.
Polished style
To look sophisticated and
polished, you would no longer need to invest excessive effort in dressing up.
You can simply rent the items you know that would look good on you. Put them on
and be on your own merry way---while looking stylish at that.
