Not everyone may have already experienced a blackout. These
are times when power would go out in a particular area, leaving everything
without electricity. Below are some things you can do when a blackout happens
especially if you have never experienced it before?
· Don’t panic. Blackouts are not something to be worried about. Power companies sometimes schedule them for maintenance purposes or sometimes they happen because of some problem that is usually resolved within a few hours. The important thing is not to panic. Instead, try to find out when power will be back and then keep yourself busy until then.
· Have a barbeque. If the blackout occurs late in the afternoon or at night, it will be very dark inside the house. An easier way of preparing your food is to have a barbeque outside. Aside from being a great excuse to go and stay outside, it is also an opportunity to cook all the thawing meat in your freezer without too much hassle.
· Check in. If the power will not be back for several hours, feel free to go to a nearby hotel where there is power and then book a room. Almost all hotels have generators so you can enjoy having electricity even during the blackout.
· Go to the mall. If it is too hot in your house, going to the mall and walking in the air conditioned surrounding is a good idea. Take the opportunity to dine in any of the restaurants since cooking at home will not be comfortable. You may also shop or even just window shop for wholesale affliction or wholesale clothing's.
· Clean and organize. If there is adequate light, you can clean your house! Without electricity to power all your electronic gadgets, you can finally get around to cleaning everything in your house and organize anything that needs to be organized.
· Board games. Bring out your board games and reacquaint yourself with these. If you have children, this will be a good bonding activity for the family
· Play with shadows. Little kids will absolutely love this. Get a flashlight or any other battery-operated light, even a candle will work, and make various shadows using your hands and fingers. You can make it more exciting by turning it into a guessing game.
· Learn origami. Bring out your colored papers and start folding the hours away. Start with the simple ones and then gradually work your way up to more difficult ones.
