How to Update Your Fashion Style After a Haircut

Ladies who cut their hair are fearless. Coco Chanel was right. Women who chop their hair are about to change their life.

Although a long mane is a mark of being feminine, a haircut doesn’t make anyone less feminine. The lack of hair highlights the face and upper part of the body. It displays your features. Thus, everyone can see the lesser known qualities of the face. These qualities are best with certain looks that go with the urban clothing theme, for instance.

While short hair is known as a summer trend or post-breakup remedy, it is also a mark of freedom. It reveals character behind the treasured mane. Women who prefer a textured bob or a fierce pixie are free from the pressures of maintaining a long hair do.

A short hair is scary for those who aren’t used to it. To stay on top of your game after a major cut, follow these tips.

1. Discover your signature look.

Like we said earlier, having a short hair will remove the pretense. It will put your facial features to the spotlight. Some people even seem masculine after a cut. Having a haircut is the perfect time to play up your features.

If you want to complement your eyes, prepare your eye liner, mascara, and shadows. Enhance them with an updated cat eye liner, thick lashes, and champagne colored eyeshadows. You can also rock bold lips. A dark lip or fresh, pink lips with perfectly groomed brows that bring a youthful glow complements the boyish cut.

Long hair and makeup can be too overwhelming at times.

2. Embrace long legs.

Even if your legs aren’t as long as you wish, embrace them for all they are. A mini dress and skirt are refreshing and goes well with a short haircut. Denim cutoffs are also perfect for showing some skin on lazy days. Bare legs allow the curves on the bottom part of the body into view. Short hemlines soften an edgy cut and make it look balanced.

Footwear should consist of flats, booties, staple sneakers and some heels. It’s best to avoid shoes with overpowering details and heavy embellishment. White sneakers, nude strapped stilettos, and black booties are foolproof bets.

3. Girly and feminine touches are your best friend.

If you haven’t seen Lorde’s music video of Perfect Places, you definitely have to see it. Her outfits in the video are the ultimate short hair peg. She perfectly mastered the v-neck trend. She wore a cape with ruffles. Her outfit consisted of textures such as silk, chiffon, satin, tulle, and lace. There were different prints and patterns. Most of all, the colors were fashion forward and age-appropriate.

Besides Lorde’s upgraded fashion sense, short-haired gals should join the off-shoulder trend wagon. Other options are asymmetrical tops, one shoulder, peter pan collars, high and polo neck tops. When it comes to prints, nothing beats florals.

4. Length is key.

You can go over-the-top with a light jacket in the form of a shrug or coat made of a thin material. If you want something shorter, a crop top or a piece of clothing with a low back will play up your features in a good light.

5. Make sure everything fits properly.

Baggy, loose pants or ripped jeans aren’t applicable for those with trimmed cuts. Divided pants, palazzo, and flared pants are also a no-no. Avoid structured and thick dresses. These details add to the bulk of the fabric and make you look large. They distort the body’s proportions which can be a challenge if you want to hide trouble areas.

Opt for high-low skirts or floor length ones (maxi). The flowy fabric of the skirt and hemline creates a soft, feminine look.

Choose blazers with the exact fit and make sure it doesn’t have distracting details. Blazers are office appropriate when worn with ankle length pants. To achieve a casual look, wear fitted pants with a cozy, monochrome sweater.

Short hairstyles are easy to maintain. It complements various face shapes, but it can limit clothing options. Therefore, it’s best to keep in mind what goes with the chopped look. The hairstyle will dictate what you wear.

Still, the clothing you wear is always up to you and how you want to represent yourself to the world.

What Is Urban Clothing?

The way people dress has evolved so much over the years. From clothing that covers almost every inch of the body to skimpy outfits, from monochromatic ensembles to colorful ones, from formal attires to more casual pieces, and many more. Among these types of clothing or fashion style that has grown in popularity in the past few years is urban or hip hop fashion. This kind of fashion is also sometimes referred to as street fashion because it is driven by the type of clothing that emerges from the streets or the neighborhoods.  Urban fashion initially became popular in the 1980s and 1990s, when rock stars started wearing clothing styles that fall under this category. Although many designers have created their own urban clothing lines, the styles and trends are often dictated by what people see on the streets and on hip hop and other musical artists.  Because of the popularity of hip hop fashion, there are numerous hip hop clothing lines nowadays and big designer bran...

Smart Fashion: Five Excellent Reasons to Rent Clothes Instead of Buying Them

“My clothes have a story. They have an identity. They have a character and a purpose. That is why they become classics. Because they keep on telling a story. They are still telling it” –Vivienne Westwood To most fashion-forward individuals, renting clothes is a rather unorthodox idea. Some might even dismiss it as downright ludicrous while the rest would even regard it as the height of blasphemy. After all, clothes are personal effects and they reflect our individual characters and personalities insomuch that renting them can feel like we are adapting to a new persona. Sure, we get it. Renting clothes does not hold much appeal and may not even be a popular option to most seeing as most individuals would rather buy the clothes they like outright rather than scour rental shops for it. This is especially true for individuals with peculiar taste in apparel such as those provided by a wholesaleBob Marley retailer and the like. However, despite your inner protests and qualms, ther...

Style and Personality: Reasons You Should Wear Whatever You Want Regardless of Your Size

“Fashion is about dressing according to what is fashionable. Style is more about yourself.–Oscar de la Renta Fashion is inclusive. Regardless of what fashion articles posit or assert, fashion is for everyone and how much you weigh should not determine what you can wear and what you should not. Unfortunately, in a society that views lithe and slim bodies as superior to the rest of the other body types, women who do dare to break societal expectations of dressing according to your size are often regarded with disdain. Indeed, women who are not a size 2 or smaller are often stigmatized by the fashion industry who themselves have stimulated the belief that women should be constrained to a particular style if they are not a certain size. Sure, the fashion industry might be obsessed with super slim bodies and wholesale streetweardistributors might continue to pander apparel pieces to the slimmer fraction of the population, but that does not mean that you are in no way of loo...
